The Game of Life and How to Play It

The Game of Life and How to Play It was published in 1925. It teaches the philosophies of its author, Florence Scovel Shinn. Shinn was as an American artist and book illustrator who became a spiritual in her middle years. Here are some terrific takeaways for leaders: You can control any situation if you first control yourself. One who obsesses too much about his own affairs often becomes doubtful and fearful.   Every act committed while angry or resentful brings unhappy reaction. It is dangerous to stop in the middle of a hunch. If you do not run your subconscious mind yourself, someone else will run it for you. The man who sends out only good-will to his fellow-man, and who is without fear, cannot be touched or influenced by the negative thoughts of others.  Make the statement, "Every person is a golden link in the chain of my good. Steps To A Successful Life

Decide to focus on what you want rather than on what you don’t have. Ask yourself when making decisions, “If money wasn’t an issue what would I do or how would I feel about this issue. If I knew my desire was possible what would I do next? Surround yourself with people, books, audios and information that support you in your quest. Live in the present. Fifteen years ago I decided that I didn’t want to live a lie anymore. I wanted to stand in my truth. Because the true key to success, believe it or not, is to keep good company. You might have a great idea, one that is great for you, but others will try to sabotage you. When you stand in the truth of who you are, on all levels, then you become the most powerful person that you can be. The world is attracted to truth. The world is repelled by lies. The Magic Of Believing

Image
Magic of Believing was written in 1948 by Claude Bristol. Bristol was a journalist for several years, including stints as a police reporter and as church editor of a large city newspaper. In this post he met people from every denomination and sect, and later read hundreds of books on psychology, religion, science, metaphysics and ancient magic. Gradually, Bristol began to see the 'golden thread' which runs through all religions and esoteric teachings: that belief itself has amazing powers. Having spent years thinking about the power of thought, he had assumed others knew something about it too. He was wrong. Strangely, he found that most people go through life without realizing the effect that strong belief can have on reaching their goals--they leave their desires vague and so they get vague outcomes. Here are three terrific takeaways from so many that Bristol discusses in his book: It may be riches or fame or position or knowledge that you want, for each person ha
